The pentagram is an ancient symbol that
dates back to the beginnings of human civilization in Mesopotamia.
While it has been used for many things, it has most often been used
in pagan worship. In its earliest use, its five points represented
the five planets: Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, Mercury and Venus. Venus
has long been a fertility goddess and was called Ishtar in the
ancient Babylonian pagan worship. It is interesting that the
position of Venus as it moves through the heavens forms a precessing
pentagram.
Today, the pentagram is still being
used in pagan worship. It is a symbol commonly used by Wiccans, with
the single point pointing up, and by Satanists with two points
pointing up. This is referred to as the “goat's head” and also
the sigil of Baphomet. Baphomet is a the name used for a goat headed
image of Satan. Many others use the pentagram for various reasons.
Most are oblivious to its blasphemous meaning.
Given its long history as a symbol of
Satan, one would think that a pentagram would be the last thing that
someone would etch into the earth. But that is exactly what has be
done in Kazahstan. On the southern shore of a man-made lake on the
Topol River approximately 14 miles west of the town of Lisakovsk,
there is a very large pentagram formed into the earth. It is
approximately 430 yards across and is easily seen on Google Earth.
It looks to have been there for at least a few years.

Someone went to the place and took some
pictures. You can see them here. According to them, the site
appears to be some sort of park. But it is odd that it was built
where few people live and then was abandoned.

What the devil is it doing there? Mystery of enormous pentagram in Kazakhstan visible on Google earth
This enormous pentagram etched into the
ground next to a lake in an isolated corner of Kazakhstan, has had
conspiracy theorists all of a flutter after it appeared on Google
Earth.
The five-pointed star symbol which
measures some 366 metres in diameter, is situated on the southern
shore of the Upper Tobol Reservoir in the north of the country.
Pentagrams are commonly associated with
devil-worship, but are also used in the Bahai religion and Chinese
Taoism as well as neopaganists and followers of the Greek
mathematician Pythagoras.
But quite what the symbol, which is
visible on Google Earth here, is doing in such a remote location
remains a mystery.
