The tower is the second tallest in the world, behind only the Burj Khalifa in Dubai."

Saudi Arabia's king Abdullah has declared that all Muslim countries should make the time kept by this clock tower the basis of their time rather than Greenwich Mean Time which used to be the accepted basis for time zones around the world.
